OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
La Habra, California
The sanctuary building, constructed in 1969, needed repair design for the roof eaves and exposed roof timbers. The large timbers all showed signs of extensive dry-rot and termite damage. There were also honey bee infestations in the annular spaces around the beams in the masonry wall. The parish did not want to change the appearance of the building. We treated the beams with borate spray and impel rods. Then the exposed beam ends were covered with copper covers that keep moisture off, termites and bees out, and still allow air circulation.
